I know it's not supposed to be real, but . . .

A while ago Ryan and I had a conversation about stuff that always seems to happen in movies but never in real life. Here's a sample:

People spitting out their water/beverage whenever someone says or does something surprising.

Quoting poetry, or quoting poetry to someone and having them recognize and recite the poem with you.

People doing double or triple takes.

Looking for someone else in a crowd and seeing several people who look just like the person you are looking for, but not realizing it's not the right person until you grab their shoulder and turn them around.

Hearing thunder and then getting stuck one second later in a huge downpour. (Maybe I've just never lived in a climate where this happens.)

If there's a grocery bag, there's always a baguette in it.

The cars are always clean.

Anyone have anything else to add?

I love this post! I don't have anything to add though. I'll have to think about it.

Ditto on Alissa's comment! Thanks for checking out my blog. I'm finally entering the world of blogging so I'm a bit slow catching up with everyone else's info. Sounds like you're expecting a new baby soon! The ultrasound pics are so fun!! I love those cheeks!

People with kids always have immaculate houses and yards, and plenty of leisure time. In what world is that possible?

How about happy endings (Debbie Downer)? Or a scene in which the town rallies to help someone get to the airport to try to dissuade someone from leaving town.

Yes, the infamous airport chase scene. I think happy endings are possible in reality, they just take longer and all the ends aren't tied up so nicely. And I think the immaculate houses and the leisure time translates to having more money.

I agree with all but the first comment about the water spitting out - I guess you haven't eaten dinner at our house....it happens regularly!!

Randomly bursting out in song? I just watched "27 dresses" and it seems like in a lot of romantic comedies there is always some sing along moment. (like "My Best Friend's Wedding", I'm sure there are others....
love the baguette comment. So true.
